GMC CCKW 353 – Sold
Chassis no. 411599-B1, produced in 1944.
A standard GMC model for the Us Army, the cckw 353 for long chassis remains timeless.
The example presented here has not been restored, but simply maintained by its owner. Resident in Normandy, it has taken part in numerous commemorations and events.
The bodywork is in good condition, the closed, sheet metal cab being rarer than the torpedo model. The rear transport body is true to production.
On the front of the chassis, the original Gar Wood-Usa winch production plate stands out.
In the cab, the dashboard gauges are US-standard, the steering wheel is in black bakelite, and there’s a fire wall cardboard dashboard. The canvas upholstery shows a patina of use. The tarpaulin is complete, in very good quality US-type canvas, and needs cleaning.
The engine and its peripherals are original, but the manifold gasket needs replacing. The military tires show significant wear. However, they run and drive very well.
